Don't delude yourself too much, bud. There's lots of information out there right now...and plenty of sides to "pick"...I'm FAR from stating that anyone is "right" or "wrong"...and nevermind the union, etc comments I'd like to take a swing at - let me lay out a few toyota fun-facts real quick:

-Toyota KNEW about this issues for YEARS before now.
-Toyota has a HISTORY of blaming the consumer instead of themselves.
-Toyota's KNOWN problems have caused deaths and accidents.
-Toyota has so many scandals "pending" right now I'll be surprised if they return to their "glory" in 15 years at least. (Did you know they hired an ex-NHSTA employee...who hired another existing NHSTA employee to help...to deal with the NHSTA and get the gov't off their back regarding recalls and issues?)
-Without getting political, the Japanese gov't has aided toyota in countless ways to help give them an unfair advantage, including manipulating currency.
-toyota's operations within the USA are largely the result of relatively manipulative, and short-sighted public officials who decided it'd be a good idea to GIVE money to this foreign company as incentive to build products here. Other factors are involved, but this is a big one.

Some say that that toyota's current recall issues stem from an honor-based culture that would rather see anything done that to admit defeat, wrongdoing, or failure. This is intolerable when people's lives and safety are at stake.

Yet others say that the company's problems are from them "growing too fast"...if they can't handle their own growth, it's nobody's fault but their own - they're inept.

Perhaps it's one or the other or a combination of BOTH and others. Regardless...no "comments about the white house" can possibly absolve them of their recent (and past) MASSIVE misjudgments and wrongdoings. There are PLENTY of reasons to despise toyota right now...and I sure hope most of the country sees that, now.
