I'm prior navy, and I can tell you its all about what you make out of it. take the asvab, if you can score 80+ you'll have an open window for the advanced electronics/nuke fields. If you are mature enough to put all the distractions aside and focus on whats important you wont flunk out of A and C schools. Then you'll make it to the fleet and once again if you can put all the distractions aside...or at least balance fun and focusing on your career/future you'll either have a very successful career, or get out after your enlistment with a lot of connections, a lot of training, certs, and experience. Depending on what rate you get you'll stand to make a lot of money in the civilian sector. (but like I said you get what you put in.) I was a missile technician in the navy, do a search on my job and you'll see what kind of jobs I'm qualified for. Unfortunately for me I'm out do to spinal injury and other medical complications, so I don't physically qualify for many jobs I know how to do, and I'm still making close to 60K a year. Like I said you get what you put in!
