Well the pictures of Saturn are more compelling to me than any of the Earth pictures; simply because I've seen pictures of the North pole before that aren't so dramatically cut. However, from a more scientific perspective; I suppose it's possible that the Coriolis effect and jet stream patterns could at some point cause the visible atmosphere at the pole of a planet to resemble a hexagon. The Coriolis effect is long and complicated to explain accurately, if you really want to understand it (if you don't already) Wikipedia has a good long article on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corioli...in_meteorology .

But the basic gist of it is that all fluid things in the Northern hemisphere will turn to the right relative to its source (ocean currents, winds, pressure systems). All fluid things in the Southern Hemisphere will turn to the left, assuming you are looking at a side view of the Earth as represented on a flat surface. If you switch that view to looking directly onto the North pole; the pressure system closest to the pole turns into a small circle and circles the pole because of the Coriolis Effect. But because of the rest of the systems pushing on it from the lower latitudes, and turning into it, I imagine at some point it's possible they could all be pushing on it in such a way to make it resemble a hexagon. And I know nothing of the atmosphere on Saturn but perhaps the gases and the pressure systems of the atmosphere are so constructed that they allow for a more regular representation of the shape than here on Earth, where because of the convoluted-ness of our pressure systems which change so frequently, it would be more of a coincidence if that image were captured in full.

Kind of a stretch, but it's the only explanation that comes immediately to mind.
