The Corvette is plenty light. The Z06 uses aluminum chassis components to make the car lighter. They could expand that to the base models and use it in place of any steel to lighten it up even more.
I love how Motortrend report that it's "Good news" that there's no talk of mounting the engine in the middle. I remember a year or so ago when they made an article saying how it'd be the best thing for it to put the engine in the middle.
I like reading some car magazines. But from my experience of having subscriptions to C&D, MT and R&T... They all pretty much write the same thing. They're all saying it's good news that there's no talk about mid engine corvettes. I'm not debating that, but what I am saying is that dedicated a cover and a big 3-4 page article to the C7 Corvette with their predictions and suggestions of what it should be. According to them of course. It said how it should have some kind of paddle shift manual transmission like in a Ferrari, a higher tech engine (I assume they were suggesting fuel-shutoff. not overhead cams) and a mid engine layout. The whole article was pretty stupid as there was no facts only rumors and suggestions from one guy. Not to mention.
I have to say Car and Driver is my favorite magazine. Their articles are written with the voice that I can relate to the most.
