Found this site where they take apart the pedal assembly made by the two different suppliers. I myself have always felt that the real issue is with the computer and NOT the pedal. They have video of an Avalon running at full throttle while someone physically moves the pedal from the fully depressed to fully released and it has absolutely no effect. Of course a re-flash of the comuter is part of the recall in the cars that will get their pedal modules replaced. First they tried to blame floor mats. That didn't work so now they're trying to blame the pedal modules. It seems they a reluctant to admit that cars programming is really to blame IMO.

At the end:

"The overriding question is if these pedals are really the predominant or sole cause in any true (non-floor-mat caused) unintended acceleration, or whether electronics are the real 800 lb gremlin in this whole affair. Toyota has not acknowledged that…yet."


CORRECTION, I was incorrect there isn't a video of the Avalon and pedal movement not affecting it running at WOT, just an article:
