The a6 sounds different because of the cylinder shutoff mode, whatever they call it, and quieter mufflers.

Properly maintained and driven, a modern m6 will probably need a new clutch WAY before the auto has any problems. Burnouts aren't as hard on a clutch as riding the clutch up slowly in an agressive take-off. (burnouts are clutch dump, holeshots in these cars are clutch slip)

Adjustable coil-over shocks/struts, or stiffer drop springs and sway bars will liven up the road feel.
