Expect it to be priced anywhere from 18-20k to start with.

Their reasoning is that Honda, and Toyota, and Nissan, etc are reaping much higher prices per unit on their compact cars, in the neighborhood of ~19,000 on average. But Chevy's only getting ~15,000 per Cobalt. This is why they have trouble making money on compact cars. The Cruze should be placed between the Cobalt and the Malibu in the lineup, because it's not outright replacing the Cobalt...yet. Anyways, on top of being wildly fuel-efficient, GM hopes the Cruze is the first of many small cars to actually earn them some $$.

Having said that -- based on what we've seen of the exterior, interior, and what we've heard of the powertrain...Anybody besides me think it'd be worth every bit of $19,000?
