As one who owns both a Chevy and GMC truck. I choose GMC. Why? it is a better truck, and I like the looks better., but no matter what I would not buy a Ford or Dodge truck. I was once told that the only difference in the Chevy and GMC was the badges put on it at the end of the assembly line which maybe true.
I think that Camaro Scotty is right on one point that a dealer or salesman can make a difference, because it made it in mine the GMC dealership was way more helpful than the local Chevy dealer. Just look at how many dealers tried to screw everyone on the Camaro, SAD very sad.
I Love GM and won't buy anything but GM, they need to really look at customer service. It is absolutely killing them. All dealers want to do is complain about not making money and they really don't want to help customers. I have found in my area the smaller the dealer the better the service you get, except that these dealers have very limited service departments.
Sometime they act like they are doing you a favor by selling you a vehicle. I drive over an hour to a GMC delaer who is great, pretty big dealer, but down home service. Funny thing is how much it means that they can remember your name everytime you come in.
