Well you asked for a personal definition of handling. There it is. And from some of the comments following mine, I believe I'm not alone in my definition.
I'm not saying that a car which puts up great numbers can't feel bulky around town (GTR).... or a well balanced car with low limits cant feel good but put up bad numbers (mini cooper)..... I'm just saying my personal belief is that handling is the way a car feels when you drive it, and the feedback you get through the steering. That doesn't mean it has to pull 1.3 g on the skidpad, and it doesn't mean it would be any good on a road course. That's a whole different animal.
Problem is when you compare two cars, and handling comes up, its hard to compare because people have different definitions and often they contain at least a little bit of subjective criticism. Generally people default back to test numbers, but that's more of the handling limitations on the car... not so much the pure handling.
