My last watch was a Citizens Eco-Drive (titanium) chronograph/diver style. Got it in 1998 and the battery died on it (finally) last year. The internals aside from the battery never gave me any trouble. I did have to get the band re-pinned probably because the titanium wore down the pins.
If I had to get another watch, I'd get an Eco-Drive but in a much simpler design. Fewer parts - less stuff to go wrong. Style? Understated - which is how I like my Camaro. If someone wants to take the time to notice it - cool. But I don't need bling visible from a 1/4 mile.
