I walked away from the movie, filled with awe at the visuals and moved by the themes portrayed in the Human Vs Navi/nature element. As much as I like technology and advancements in science, you have to admit that all this has led to more problems that it has solved.
I disagree.

We have all but eradicated smallpox and polio, influenza is much less of a fatal disease, we've developed modern agriculture so that much less people are starving, advancements have been made in science and medicine due to space travel, and Al Gore invented the intarweb.
