Getting SGT. You must get the rank of SPC or CPL first. Then you name gets selected to go to a promotion board. You are required to answer questions in front of the senior NCO’s in your Battalion. After you are done either a majority vote or all can say no, but the president of the promotion board can over rule all the 1st sergeants and say yes, and his word rules over all. Three months latter after your paper work is approved you get you promotion and some pain in the process.
