OK. I have been lurking on here for the past few weeks as I am trying to decide whether to purchase a 2010 Camaro SS or 2011 Mustang GT to replace my 2008 Caliber CSRT4. Every Mustang thread in this forum has been closed for some reason or another and would like for this to stay open for discussion please.
As mentioned, I own a 2010 Mustang GT that my wife drives as a DD. I really like the interior and it is well made and easy to work on.
I have a CSRT4 as a DD. For those that don't know, this car is the 2nd generation of the original Neon SRT4. I have done some work to it and it is laying down around 350WHP. Deadly from a roll but blows from a stop as there is just no traction.
Background out of the way.....I want to replace the CSRT4 and am really torn between the Mustang and Camaro. Personally I think the Mustang interior is light years ahead of the Camaro however the Camaro offers a mod friendly motor where 500HP is attainable with not much money. This is where my conflict resides.
For 2K in mods, I could have a DD Mustang that would run solid 12's and maybe the occasional 11 without touching the motor.
On the Camaro side I could easily obtain 500HP and solid 12's with occasional 11's but will require a cam change to do so hence opening up the motor. The aftermarket not offering a replacement for the factory 3.45 is the major issue. Another plus for the Camaro is my oldest wants a 3rd gen for his first car. I think it would be cool for son and dad to both sport a Camaro plus I have a 2010 Mustang already.
Here is what I would go for with each car:
Camaro:
Mustang:
I am really separated down the middle on this one.......
