another nice option is meebo, go to
www.meebo.com, sign up it is free (no downloads needed). then you just enter your USER ID and password for the apps you use (AOL, Yahoo, MSN, etc). then you just log into meebo website and you can chat with all your friends on ANY PC with no having to install anything
