I'll won't bother attacking Toyota, everybody else seems to have done that already and I have nothing to add. Sooooo . . . anybody else notice that the credits could reach $7500? That puts the cost of the Volt in the area of $30k, maybe a bit more, maybe a bit less. But that brings it back down to a price where people will be able to save money by owning the car vs most alternatives. I think the Prius has a ~$3000 rebate with it.

The other interesting thing is that it is proposed for cars that have 6kWh (or more) batteries, which means ~15 mi electric range and reduced cost compared to the Volt. Thats important because the Volt might be able to cheat the EPA test and not use any fuel. If it doesen't use any fuel, it can't be rated for fuel economy which means it can't help GM's CAFE numbers which would really suck.
