As a former transportation design student this isn't anything new. As a matter of fact car designers change jobs like we change clothes. It's a tough and competitive business and if it weren't for his honorable mention as the guy who penned the exterior design for the 5thgen Camaro (a design praised the world around and rare in it's level of depth and detail amongst production specimens) who knows if he would have had this opportunity? I doubt you'll see anything at VW/Audi that even remotely resembles the Camaro, but you may pick up some ideas in the level of overall design execution and detail, and that's only if it's a project he's actually designed. Most times it's just the design chief that gets the credit when it's one of his subordinates who actually designed the car, which is the primary reason I chose not to pursue transportation design any further beyond school.
