Some people earn far more income, and prefer a more stable lifestyle than being a car driver. It isn't like this M3 owner just walked in off the street with zero track experience. He graduated a race driving school, and for all we know he could be at the track weekly. Might even be that particular track, and home field advantage is huge with racetracks.
Anyways, just throwing this out there. You don't necessarily need a paycheck from racing to be considered an expert driver.

Very true... 2 of the most natural talents i have ever seen are guys who spend 90% of their time autocrossing. One friend of mine decimated the Chevy Rev-it-Up a couple years ago defeating many pro drivers and winning himself a Corvette C6 in the process. Hes a Mercedes Master Tech and is very happy with his job.
