I assume they put the car on a scale. If it's only 49 pounds heavier than the manufacturers estimate that's not so bad. There are some cars that are supposed to weigh so much and turn out to weigh hundreds of pounds more when put on the scale.
The brakes are about the same. 14 inch in front but the rears on the Camaro are a little bigger. Not substantial enough to make a huge difference.

I like allpar.com for info but I see your points. I doubt they put it on a scale but if they did you have to rememeber almost all 08 models were fully loaded and limited so It would be likely that sunroof, mygig nav center system, and sound system would add a bit of weight.
