Music is kinda like the Camaro. Who doesn't think the first gens were the best?
Who doesn't think Kill Em All, Master, Ride the Lightning and Justice weren't the best? I do.
Your first girlfriend? Was she the best? Probably not but you still have fond memories don't you?
You still love your first car even though it was a pile of sh!t right?
You can never replace the first so to speak.
Evolution is inevitable. And yes, this is MUCH better than St Anger.

Never really thought of it this way, but it's true. You'll never recreate "the good 'ol days" no matter how hard you try.
I have been glued to Manditory Metallica on XM since it started and I must say that it has rekindled my love for the band. After the black album, I pretty much stopped listening to them except for dusting off the old albums every now and then. And I haven't bought an album since then either, although I have gone to see them live here and there.
I am very impressed with the few songs from the new album I have heard so far, but damn is The Day That Never Comes is loooooong. Feels to me like they were trying to relive some of the old days, but it drags after a while. And, I'll say it, Robert is not Cliff or Jason...but what do you do. Cliff was one of those greats taken from the world before we wanted him to go and they had to do what was best for the band with Jason.
All that being said, I will be purchasing the new album and have it in tow to Indy!
