It has to do a lot with marketing, exposure, management, and demographic taste. There is a band out of Australia that has some very talented musicians, spot on tempos, incredible mixing with impeccable execution of timing yet the sound was a bit eclectic despite the extreme high quality content. That kept them from going mainstream but oddly enough that was not their goal.
