Oh for sure it is NOT the temperatures...It is the SALT that get's put down in my area. Salt is the cheapest and most effective road de-icer that a state or municipality can employ. And it is CHEAP around here due to two different nearby Salt Mines.
I have seen salt sitting on dry surfaces during the winter. This get's tossed up by other cars and up into your wheel wells. I am very anal about keeping my cars as nice as I can. I work hours on them every week to keep them that way and for the most part in the RUST BELT it is a losing battle.
My last car I was able to kept out of the weather the last two winters. It is amazing to see the difference after two years when comparing to another car of the same vintage that was not stored.
My Camaro has been a dream for me for a long time and I've waited for this car. I went and detailed it today. Top to bottom including a full wheel and tire detail. While it only has 430 miles, the prep by the dealer was marginal and the car looks much better than it ever has.
I want to be able to pull the car out when I can, drive it when it is nice, then dust it and put it away. That is just me, and I am glad that I have the space and capability to do this at this time.
