I grew up around Shepards, Rotweillers, Mastif's, and a husky............... but these guys are easy to clean up after, do not mess up your house, are super easy to train, and they rank in the top ten smartest dog breeds. Really fun to train to do agility tasks, and they actually can learn sentence long commands, not just single words. My dogs know the difference between, "in the living room" and 'in the living room and up on the coach". Cool Breed.

AND NO THEY ARE NOT YAPPY AT ALL, like some other small breeds.

I was at a friend's home for dinner and they got one of those Papillon's a few months ago to replace a Pug that had died of old age. They are about the same size as a large rabbit but MUCH more interesting to have around. This dog is pretty smart, did not bark at us and was very affectionate/playful. A sweet animal if you ask me. You might consider one of those Papillons if you were thinking about getting another pet.
