Now some of you NASCAR guys go watch a MOTOGP race. That's racing. Tons of changing positions and dicing for the lead. Some races the leader changes 4-5 times in a single lap. The motorcycles are completely prototype. Built the best bike you can and race it. The only "real" rules are it has to way at least 325lbs and be an 800cc engine running on race fuel. Not a single part on these bikes is allowed to be offered to the public for sale. However this leads to some awesome trickle down technology for the street going sport bikes.
If NASCAR was setup like that we'd all win.

While I'd argue that MOTOGP is more exciting, I think that NASCAR is interesting only because the idea that anyone can have these cars opens up the imagination to the idea that anyone can race like that with the right talent for driving.
