The possible difference between subjective perception and objective reality when it comes to the color spectrum is pretty much a moot point as long as it maintains its consistency. I don't know that we could ever cross check the two unless we could pull raw data out of neurons and some how check it against wavelengths to pinpoint where any mistakes were made. And even so as long as they were consistent it ultimately wouldn't matter, the only issue would be if you woke up one day and everything were different colors than normally.
To the OP I'm gonna go with social, environmental and biological conditioning.
Lighter people blush when embarrassed and flush when aroused, so it would make sense that pink/red would be linked to passion in those cultures.
In African cultures the most valued colors were simply those hardest to make or that occurred less often in nature.
Personally I have a very hard time associating colors with emotions, it's pretty much all memorization for me. So if you threw me into a culture with vastly different color association and emotional perception, I'd have to start all over.
Not trying to thread jack but true story, Squares A and B are the same color.
