So I took a break from the rusty chassis as I'm waiting on more parts and time. I wanted to revisit an engine concern of mine. As you can see the Airaid intake elbow never really sat completely flush with the MAF and kind of hung out a bit off the throttle body. It still works fine and I just wrote it off as aftermarket fitment.

That was until Rough Country sent me a promo for their throttle body spacer for the LM7. Initially I laughed off as "those gimmicky things from the late 90's/early 00's" but then I thought about the fitment of my intake elbow and the gears began to turn. I looked up Airaid's website and sure enough they make a throttle body spacer as well.

I procured one off eBay for significantly less than retail to put my theory to the test. As you can see, my thought process was correct. That spacer is the perfect gap filler, it shoves the throttle body forward into the elbow and aligns it to the MAF a lot better. I could adjust the MAF back off the intake box for complete perfection but that sucker is on there good and tight. Something tells me not to tug on that too hard, this is good enough.

So for GMT800 owners reading this for your own purchasing research: the spacer isn't necessary but given the before and after I'd recommend it if fitment is a priority in your build. As far as sound or "performance" (lol) I've got nothing to offer as of yet, I've got some pretty healthy PTSD from dropping a car off a jack a few years back and starting this behemoth with the suspension half ripped apart on jack stands, 3 feet away from the Camaro just doesn't sit well with me. Will report back when its back on all 4.
