The only C8 I would consider instead of the ZL1 is the ERay or Z06. Both of these are still quite expensive and rare. Any other version of the C8 is just too slow.
I've had a c5 z06, c6 z06 and c7 z06 and plan on a c8 z06 although the Eray has me thinking. Anyhow, the ZL1 is fun and its my second Gen 6 Camaro but they simply don't match the Corvette's fun IMO.
I said all of that to say, if you are in it for the power, the C8 Z51 will leave you disappointed after 70-80mph.
