Maybe it's a location thing. GM does try to distribute product based on what sells in an area. In Metro Detroit there is no shortage of Silverados under $50k with 5.3L and under $60k with 6.2L. Pretty much on par with pricing for F150 in the area.

When you go to Chevrolet and built a WT 1/2 ton, the only option is a 4 cylinder. I've got a friend who works for a big roofing company in town so I called him up and asked what his boss is going to do now that the WT's they usually buy no longer have V8's as an option.
He told me they bought a WT with a 6cyl several years ago and it was junk by 60K miles so they quit buying them. His boss is hooked on GM because he has a GM rewards credit card. He's very resistant to buying Fords but he absolutely will NOT put his guys in a 4cyl truck so he's not sure what he will do in the future.
