Except you have no insight into the motivation behind the regulation. In this case, the motivation behind the regulation is to continue to improve air quality and reduce (eliminate has not been stated in the regulation) carbon emissions.

With stated motivation being different than what is ASSUMED under the mandate scenario, you do not have a mandate.

So in an effort to try to stay on topic (7th Gen Camaro or not) it would seem to me that if GM does revive the Voltec approach to bring back a range extender, they could produce a car that launches like a beast but maybe relies on the ICE to extend the range on highway where EVs have the lowest efficiency. In that case, however, the EREV engine does not provide power to the wheels. The engine only replenishes the battery. Same as a Chevrolet Volt in Hold mode.
