All manufacturers eventually discontinue all parts. If you want to race old iron, you either need to invest in a stock of used parts or buy replacements from the aftermarket. DSSVs were over a grand each when they were available, so you can probably find a pretty good coilover solution in that price range, albeit if you only need to replace one having to spend 4-5k to replace them all is annoying. I never worked on a Mustang, but I have worked on Fords and never enjoyed the experience. For me the GenV having the LS platform is a huge plus and I was able to use parts from Z28s, ZL1s and 1LEs to improve my cars for not a lot of money before parts got scarce. If you don't want to deal with parts scarcity, you have to race fairly new iron. If that means a Mustang for you, go for it. I would rather race an S10 pickup.
