We’ve got a few of the 10 speed trucks at work but I’m not sure how the mileage compares. It’ll sometimes use 1.5-2 qts in 5000 miles. I don’t run it to the change light. It didn’t start using it like that till about 30-35000 or so. It’s just over 50K now. I have a catch can on it now since about 48,000 miles (last oil change) and it’s about 3/4 full) I’ve been checking it every couple hundred miles to see how long it takes to fill up.
This amount of oil usage has been considered as acceptable in the past. Oil usage, although undesirable, exists for some engines. If you follow the common standard for oil changes (which would be to service and change oil within 4,000 miles), you should never run into a problem with oil. I always follow this standard with all of my cars, and I don't add oil to any of them.
