He was only the OC the past 2 seasons. Prior to that it was Brian Daboll for 3 years. The offense (and Josh) seemed much more in sync under Daboll. They spread the field and schemed receivers open. There was a time when we weren't sure if we even had a punter on the team because we rarely used him.
We also had Cole Beasley catching 80+ balls each season to compliment Diggs' 100+. And it seemed like every ball Beasley caught was for a 1st down on 3rd and 8. That was part of Daboll's scheme. Yes, Beasley retired, but we have competent receivers in Shakir and Sherfeld who could fill that role, but they are not running the crossing and option routes that Beasley was running.
Hopefully Brady has a gameplan to put our receivers in position to get separation.
