If this car is over 40k..regardless if its loaded, it will bomb, and GM will yet again fail in hurting times..and I will gladly turn the other cheek...I love this car, I love GM, I have a passion through all gens in some way I have been involved with each generation in some sort of manner....but the hype for the challenger will end a few months down the road....once that fad concludes, challenger srt wont sell at 42K, I don't see the gas guzzler tax or the fact that it IS a gas guzzler will stay even at 40k very long. There is a dodge dealership just down the road which NEVER puts sticker inside the vehicle, which is a violation of law if I recall in most states....and both vehicles have not been touched after the asking price is mentioned. I expect the camaro dealers will follow suit for a short period as well....it took not even a month since the second challenger arrived on the lot that the prices are beginnging to lower. If you think people are going to continuously pay 40k for this vehicle in a time where the media is playing up this "recession", then I think those dealerships with that mentality will learn the hard way as it sits and sits. Yea, you will get a few buyers...just as the challenger HAS had some takers who picked theirs up over 45k...but less than a hand ful that I have seen.
I think the challenger is a good lookin car, and I adore this new camaro. But if either is priced at 40k, I will gladly walk away and keep my truck. No one NEEDs this car...its a want, and not many of us WANT it for over 35k.
Not to mention competitively priced with mustang? 40K?....then where do you start the Z/28 (if that even resurfaces). Are you going to price the Z/28 at 50+ and watch that sit on a lot like the GT500 and Shelby do?
