Anyhoo what I've read seems to concede that diesel generators will be needed at EV charging stations as a supplement and back-up as the grid or solar/wind electrical supply isn't and won't always be enough or reliable full time.

Went to Atlanta and rented a Model Y. Stopped by Lenox Square Mall. They had two banks of chargers on different sides of the mall. Not a single diesel generator in sight. The bank that I chose to park on had 14 chargers. 6 were Tesla only. 8 were EVGo with multiple charge cords each. Three of those had Tesla cords among the multiple cords. I plugged into one of those at 55% charge, set it to stop at 80% charge and went shopping. In reality, I watched shopping happen. I think y’all know what I mean. The charge rate was 50V. That’s not particularly fast. Tesla chargers charge at 125V, but those were all taken by the time I got there. After about 35-40 minutes I got a text saying that my charging had stopped at 82%. Cost me $11.24. For what is in effect a full tank in my Camaro (about 260 miles on e85 - $50 for a full tank).

When I pulled into the charger there was a Dodge Charger (ironically) parked at one of the chargers. He had a ticket on his windshield for parking in an unauthorized spot. When I came back to get my car there were two different non-plug-in vehicles about to park in charger parking spots, so I told them that I had watched a car get a ticket for parking in those spots, so I feel like I probably saved them from a big ticket in what is otherwise a free parking lot.
