It's not though. Month to month or quarter to quarter sales are way too volatile. I don't think there's a law against it, it just isn't useful in representing how well a manufacturer is doing sales-wise.



For example Q3 to Q4 last year was a 20k unit increase. Dealers are off loading old stock at the end of the calendar year, fleets are putting in orders at their usual time. Once that's over sales start to drop off in Q1 2024. Reporting this way doesn't show how well product lines are performing, it just shows that Enterprise wanted a ton of Malibus, Texas DPS ordered a bunch of Tahoes, etc.
