The knee-jerk was gm cancelling the Bolt. Anything "inbound" is likely years away and a 30K Equinox might be in the same "price-point" to gm but not to the customer. The gm customer is viewed as a mushroom...kept in the dark and fed...etc., etc....

I moved from our Forecasting group to our Consulting group over two years ago. One of the companies I did the forecast for was GM. I had Bolt dropping out of the Orion Twp plant and Silverado EV and Sierra EV going into it before I left Forecasting. Hardly a knee-jerk reaction. It looks like a knee-jerk reaction because GM clearly doesn’t speak publicly about their product and facilities plans in advance. If GM had known two years ago that there would be an IRA and that Bolt would qualify at $7,500 the plan may have been constructed differently, but they didn’t and the plan is the plan.
