Another thing is you have to consider your commute, that 40 mile range I am sure is under ideal conditions. what if you live somewhere where your commute takes 2 hours to go 20 miles and you are in 95 degree heat or 20 degree cold? you are going to use more electricity to keep the heater or the air conditioning going and thus reducing your range. Or if you live in an area like I do where you have mountians you drive through. Like on my car on my commute I can usually go about 300 miles on a tank of gas, but on the highway that increases up to around 450 miles. That is why a 100 mile car would be a much nicer option in my opinion. remember "Your Mileage WILL Vary"
