One of the tracks I go to actually used M240i as their track cars, which they use for HPDE. Those can handle well, though as others said, it wouldn't match the Camaro SS.
I personally wouldn't buy a BMW. Lease them. Generally, you don't want to have one on hand once the warranty goes. They just aren't special anymore to justify dealing with their crap. IMO something like E9x M3 could be worth the hassle with the S65 engine, but the newer stuff just lost their charm, especially considering how far the American competition has come.

IMO Porsche is worth it, but the others are pretty much meh, given how well the Camaro performs.
