Do you drive in accordance with the EPA (or Enviro-Canada in our case) test cycle? If no, then GM doesn't particularly care. They (and every other automaker) do what they can to get a good test score, and if it works out in the real world? Congrats to the eventual buyer. But the folks who end up owning the cars & trucks they build are at best their 3rd priority. 1st is the regulators; 2nd is dealers (since they actually buy the cars from the manufacturer -not us).
