Maybe from coming into the car enthusiast thing from a different direction than most gives me a different perspective. I've always been more of a sports car guy, more into cornering and handling than engines and powertrains. As far as doing the work goes, maybe I'm one of your exceptions (I've done my share of the things you mentioned above). The details may differ, but the tasks themselves remain pretty much the same.
50+ years ago I could have easily become brand loyal, and if I had it would have been to Mopar. But life didn't turn out that way and I've never been loyal to any specific mfr. In our new car shopping, we've actively "jumped ship" at least twice over just one particular matter.
Norm
