Free was the wrong word to use. I feel tax money properly spent on the education system is a worthy investment. The current state of my kids education is a joke as well but I'm not looking for a refund. These are weird times and I'm hopeful Canada gets back to normal asap. However we are relying on our neighbours to the south to get their crap together and that doesn't look promising.

I'm not making the case for universal basic income here. Not a fan of welfare either. Providing education and healthcare (paid for through taxes) for your citizens is a good idea. Imagine that one annoying person at work was even less educated.
Not a fan of any part of communism then try not buying products from China.
The Hoover Dam (your ability to live in the desert) wasn't a privately funded venture. Is that socialism at work?
