You can go back to the factory tune before taking your car to the dealer but that does not mean you will get away with it. Techs are now mandated to look for “creative tuning" anytime they warranty the drive train. They are supposed to send in the codes to GM for verification. They may send the codes to Chevy for verification then agian they may not. You never know. If you got a lazy tech that just wants to get his strait time and make some money he might just skip a few steps. Its a roll of the dice and I dont have the odds. I personally told the tech that I had flashed the car and screwed things up and also admitted that my drive train warranty was voided in order to save him time and aggravation. Nothing pisses off a mechanic off more than having to spend another hour or two finding out that he just dick'ed over by the customer. By the way, the mechanic may not get paid for the extra hour it takes to find that the customer dick'ed him over which is the very reason they get pissed off.
If you tune your car and things happen you should accept the risk. Not GM. I am not saying that everything is off limits to Warranty. If the front head lamp goes out or your trunk hinge fails that has nothing to do with the drive train and GM techs won’t care if you flashed it. I think the choices are clear. Flash it and except that something may go wrong and that you will pay for it or don’t flash it and keep your warranty in tact.
