Just following up on this. Those generic sensors worked just fine. They paired easily and seem to report correct-looking numbers. I have not taken a PDR log to see if the temperature function is also valid.
One word of warning, a friend also bought the same set and one of his sensors was DOA. Maybe he is an outlier, or maybe I just got lucky?
