It might be okay for these reasons:
• It's the most attractive thing to come out of Toyota since the Supra.
• It's a good car because it potentially competes with the recently released GT-R, a hyped import in a price bracket that compels it to run with other great cars.
• It's new so it has that new car smell.
• Carbon fiber is awesome, and this car has lots of carbon fiber.
• It's exclusive due to low production.
• It goes 0-62 in 3.7 seconds.
• It has 10 cylinders.
It probably sucks for these reasons:
• I never really thought the Supra was the most attractive car. Pointing out that this car is as attractive as a Supra is kind of like arguing about the most attractive, fastest, tumor-infested 3-legged dog. It won't be pretty, it won't be fast, and it certainly won't live very long. I think that this car will fit into this mold because Toyota has lost its way in the field of performance, and history doesn't speak all that highly of Toyota's OEM performance.
• I don't like the GT-R either. I actually think that both this car and the GT-R are examples of excessive hype. They aren't on the level of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Koenigsegg, or the Corvette ZR1. There are better cars for the money.
• This car will have significant flaws. It represents a new model, platform, and engine. All of these features will need serious improvement in order to match the reliability of the competition. That new car smell, by the way, will come with the potent sweat of outsourced labor, which will not support the US economy. In fact, I expect that the laborers that do build this car are underpaid and work in a country with limited government oversight of abusive employment, child labor, and worker rights.
• Does it seem to anyone else obese for a car that is so heavily clad in carbon fiber? Besides, having lots of an awesome component does not mean, by default, that this car is awesome.
• It's exclusive because it costs way more than it is worth, it isn't that attractive, and it is only produced in small numbers—small numbers that reflect the number of people in the world both rich enough and stupid enough to buy an overpriced piece of sculpted Japanese garbage.
• I don't have a problem with it being fast. I just want to know why they measured up to 62 instead of 60. What is wrong with them? If you're going to sell in America, then advertise to Americans.
• Those 10 cylinders only displace 4.8L. I think Toyota managed to build something that with more cylinders than a muscle car will still manage to sound like an angry bee hive.
