The government official after having made sure they made the minimum requirements of the law, should marry them post haste regardless of his beliefs (which he is of course free to speak of, just not act upon if they run afoul of laws etc).
Would it be any different if an employer refused to hire someone based upon their 'expected work output' based on race?
