So, the guy who does the alignments in the shop left before I got to the dealership yesterday so I wasn't able to ask what he did. Apparently this cat has been doing alignments for a long time and he's a bit of a stickler for details.

How the service manager explained the 'strut grind' to me is that in order to get some cars an alignment that is truly dialed-in, they sometimes have to do some grinding where the strut mates with the frame - I believe it's a clearance issue with the bottom of the strut but, I'm still not 100% sure what the hell it does. At any rate, it was less than an hour worth of labor for the 'strut grind'.
