Both the cars you mentioned use the same motor. That could be the issue. The SC LT motors do have problems. The one I have heard about most is overheating.

I'm also not a fan of DI engines. They are great when new but tend to have issues down the road.

Maybe you should try a NA motor and do some mods too get the HP you are looking for.
