There is a huge difference in throttle response between say a Holley 750 to a high pressure , computer controlled “fly by wire” modern car.
My El Camino, 355ci with a Holley 750 running a mechanical fuel pump requires me to downshift prior to smashing the “spring assisted throttle cable” mechanically attached to a foot pedal.
Or it’ll bog down. Anyway, that’s my hypothesis.
