Just for an apples to apples comparison, as many will not argue the price is a huge factor here:
Starting prices:
Challenger R/T: $34,295
Mustang GT: $35,355
Camaro SS: $37,495
The Camaro may out perform the other two in stock fashion, but at $2,100+ more than the Mustang and $3,200 more than the Challenger starting out, you can get a lot more creature comforts or mods before you start catching up to the base price of a Camaro.
