I can't speak for anyone besides myself...but I'm not loyal to a company (outside of being enfatuated with their vehicle designs and tech)...I'm loyal to my country (and Canada): and choosing to buy vehicles made by GM, and Ford (and some of Chrysler), is one of many ways I can put my $$ where my mouth is.
I do believe that educated people read the magazines. I KNOW they do. They make their decisions from those articles. I'm not making excuses for what they do. I'm just saying that is what they do. And WE all do the same types of things, too. We do the research and find the best 1/4 miiles times, best G forces times......we all do this. And then, once we make our purchase because of emotional factors, we then sit back and intellectually rationalize our decision. The educated people are no different than we are. Every one buys pretty much the same way, but we value different criteria.

It doesn't matter if I think it is okay or not. Makes me no difference what they do. Your point is valid about the research.....I don't know how scientific it is, but I put as much faith into the article as I do just about any article I read on the yahoo home page. I was just saying that it did make sense to me and I do think that the majority of "educated" consumers buy like this.

In a perfect world, with all things being equal, I wish that everyone bought domestic. It would benefit us all greatly.
