I agree with you that Chevy is a symbol of America's core values, so imagine my chagrin when Toyota fanboys give me crap about buying an American symbol made in another country (or, as you stated, several if you break down individual parts). Besides, isn't the whole idea behind the "Buy American" movement to create (or maintain) US based jobs and revenue? Again, I don't have a problem with my car having been made in Canada, I bought it, and I love it.
I do, however, think the people of the US would have more faith in a company that's spent gazillions of dollars on advertising that appeals to Main Street USA if the products they sell were made here. Just saying.
Now I'm going to join up, and promise myself that I'm going to make more of an effort to "Buy American" rather than just picking up the most convenient item and throwing it in the buggy at the grocery store.
